How do you paint a portrait without representation?

My paintings are an exploration of texture, process, material, and relationships. Made with both oil and acrylic paints, found materials, and recycled canvases, my artistic practice is shaped by the calligraphic lines of Cy Twombly, the flux between sculpture and painting in Lawrence Carroll’s work, and the emphasis on process that Amy Sillman prioritizes. These artists have allowed me to push the boundaries of painting. Through layering, scraping, and reworking the surface of the canvas, my creations are an invitation to others to see the world in a different way and to embrace unique perspectives.
